The Pathfinders Leadership Cohort is a program designed to support sophomore University of Utah students as they navigate the challenges of selecting a major and making significant decisions. This leadership cohort emphasizes curiosity, goal setting, fostering strong peer connections and mentorship, and provides an impactful addition to your resume.

Fall Semester

In the fall, Pathfinders will convene weekly or bi-weekly on Fridays from 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. These sessions will include gatherings in Homeroom with the full cohort, Clusters, or Path Pals.

Spring Semester

In the spring, Pathfinders are encouraged to take on new leadership roles across campus (e.g., student organizations, TA positions, internships, jobs). They will continue to meet periodically with a mentor to stay on track and adjust their goals.

Who Should Apply?

  • University of Utah students entering their sophomore year in the upcoming fall semester

  • Students seeking community and connections with peers

  • Students committed to achieving their leadership goals
  • Students interested in leadership, including exploring myths, challenges, and opportunities for development

Pathfinders welcomed Alyssha Dairsow, founder of Curly Me!, to share her leadership story. Alyssha expressed the importance of welcoming pivots in life and listening to the needs of your community to make the biggest impact. This approach led her from a career in sports medicine to empowering and creating community for Black girls in Utah. “I love having opportunities to speak within academic spaces. Speaking about founding and continuously learning always gives me a rush of energy and joy.”
